The Community Sponsorship Program
After 2020, there are so many people who could benefit from some additional mental/emotional support! Youth anxiety and depression are through the roof, parents are stretched thinner than ever, and we are all potentially more isolated and stressed than we have ever been! As a mental/emotional health practitioner, I am confronted with this reality every single day.
There is a growing need for effective, affordable, and efficient mental and emotional health services (MEHS) in the US, and more specifically in Maine. According to Mental Health America (MHA), the number of adult Mainers with a mental illness who were unable to receive the treatment they needed has risen from 19.7% (39,000 people) in 2020 to 24.8% (57,000 people) in 2021 so far. Three barriers cited by MHA as contributing to this problem are: no insurance or limited coverage of services, lack of available treatment types, and insufficient finances to cover costs - including, copays, uncovered treatment types, or when providers do not take insurance.
In the last few months. I have had to turn away 25 people because they couldn’t afford to pay for sessions they desperately needed. I don’t take insurance because the Human Givens approach is not yet recognized in the US (although it is fully recognized in the UK and Ireland where the extremely effective and efficient approach was developed). I am one of 2 HG practitioners in the US practicing now. My mission is to help as many people as I can who struggle with mental and emotional health.
As an entrepreneur with a private practice, I can only discount my sessions so much before I start jeopardizing my ability to stay in business and continue helping people. I found myself donating so much that I started tracking it this year. In the first 2.5 months of 2021, I have given away 20.5 hrs of sessions, which is not sustainable for a small business like myself. I would love to continue offering heavily discounted or free services to people who need it, this is why I am starting this sponsorship program!

Sponsorship Donations are NOT tax deductible
I am not a non-profit, so I cannot offer sponsors a tax deduction. I am simply a mental / emotional health practitioner, trying to make a difference the best way I can. However, I am offering you equal donation of my time. We’re in this together – 50/50!
